TIPS TO RENOVATE YOUR HOME STUDIO

At-home workouts have been around for decades, think Jane Fonda and Olivia Newton John ‘Let’s Get Physical’ which brought home workout videos into the spotlight. During the pandemic, we all turned to WOFH (working out from home) to maintain our health and fitness. The world went into fright mode and seeked instant ways to work out at home – enter online fitness. Post-pandemic, online fitness has found a permanent space in the world of health and wellness. Some elements of the studio experience are hard to recreate online, however the flexibility, cost and results that online fitness offers is hard to match.

Being time poor is one of the biggest barriers to consistent movement. Whether you are a new mum, have a busy work schedule or travel often, blocking out hours of your day can be difficult to achieve. At-home workouts are convenient and effective – you are guaranteed an in-studio level burn without having to leave the house. At home workouts provide the flexibility and spontaneity of rolling out of bed in your pyjamas (we dont judge!) and taking 20-45 minutes to nourish your body and mind. Squeezing in a quick workout in your busy schedule can change how you approach the day and help balance and centre yourself.

Here are our tips to improve your at home studio. 

  1. Declutter your space. Remove unnecessary furniture or objects that may impact your workout. You want enough space to comfortably move on the mat and have your FFAH equipment around you. Having a clutter free space will create a calm environment to help motivate you to move your body. 
  1. Place your mat near natural light. Natural light is highly beneficial for our mental health and helps create a positive and warm space. Being in natural sunlight, especially in the cooler months, will provide you with much needed vitamin D and mental health benefits. 
  1. Invest in high quality equipment. We all know we are more motivated when we have a cute workout set or yoga mat! Invest in your at home set up with a high quality mat and equipment to help set you up for success.   1. Get outside! If space and weather allows, moving outdoors is an incredible way to get some sunlight on your skin, feel the breeze and connect with nature. If you are stuck behind a computer all day, 20 minutes of outdoor movement will transform your mental clarity throughout the day and provide immense mental health benefits.

The pandemic and recent Pilates boom has made at-home Reformer machines more accessible and efficient – designed for people to move safely and effectively without having to go to a Reformer studio. Not only is this economically viable in the long-term, but this can be life-changing for those who do not live close to a studio, or when our work or personal demands do not match up with studio timetables.
